The financing plan for the Ohio River Bridges project is just weeks away from completion, and will be more beneficial to Kentucky than had been projected.
It is a message that Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and US Rep. John Yarmuth, D-KY., delivered Thursday afternoon in the Louisville Metro Hall.
A press conference they occurred only hours after the Kentucky and Indiana officials announced that consensus had been reached on how to design and build two new ranges in the Ohio River.
Fischer said the Kentucky transportation Cabinet, the Indiana Department of transportation and the Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridge Authority wrapped up work with a financial consultant and must complete a long-anticipated plan funding “in the coming weeks.”
Complete the financing plan should mean that the procurement of bridge project can begin in a few months, Fischer himself said, and construction will begin before the end of 2012.
