After initial findings show Detroit under “possible financial stress”, Governor Rick Snyder was assigned a 10-person Town Board financial review Tuesday. Job Board is scheduled to begin early next month, leaving a while to check its background and experience.
Under Michigan LAW, the Governor General has the authority to appoint a Board to conduct a 60-day study to determine if the city should be taken over by the State’s designated emergency managers who will have special powers over matters of law and finance.
Andy Dillon is the State Treasurer of Michigan, was appointed by Governor Snyder. He is a former Chairman of the Michigan HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES, where he served three. Dillon ran for Governor as a Democrat in the last election, losing to basic Virg Bernero. Before running for Office, Dillon worked as Director of Wynnchurch capital, vice president of GE Capital and as a financial analyst at WR Grace. He also practiced law for seven years. He received a degree in accounting and law from the University of Notre Dame.
Doug Ringler serves as Director of the Office of Internal Audit services in the Department of technology, management and budget (DTMB). He has also been the Chief Executive and the Director of audit DTMB’s the Office of Internal Audit Services since 2008. Previously, he worked in the Office of financial management of the State and the Office of the Auditor General. Holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ringler Ferris State University and public accountant and a certified internal auditor.
He also changed the face of the University, spent hundreds of millions of dollars of new construction projects, including the cities of Tech, 45-acre business incubator and technology park near the campus of Wayne.
